Roku acquired Dataxu, a software company that helps marketing professionals use data to improve their advertising for $150 million. According to Mike Baker, co-founder and former CEO of dataxu, this move would help ROKU to address the issues related to transparency and install trust in ad buyers, essential to increase CTV ad revenue.

3. Italy Orders TikTok to Block Under-age Users (Reuters)

Following the death of a 10-year old in Italy who was using TikTok, the Italian data privacy watchdog ordered the video app to block the account of any user whose age it could not verify. The regulator said in a statement that TikTok had committed to ban any users who are below 13 years of age but it was quite easy to circumvent this rule. TikTok is asked to block unverified accounts until at least February 15 awaiting further information.
